Today I watched Big Bang Theory S05E15. The main story was about how Leonard, tired of being Sheldon's mule, decides to stop being his "friend" and only be his roommate. I was surprised that it was so easy to end the ridiculous roommate contract that Leonard had signed; I expected that if he terminated it, Sheldon would kick Leonard out, at the least. Instead, after refusing to take Sheldon to the dentist (he encourages me to get my license with how irritatingly dependent he is), Sheldon and Leonard become normal roommates where their only interactions are paying rent, paying utilities and nodding their heads politely at each other. About freaking time!
Jim Parsons is an excellent actor, but I hate Sheldon (which proves that he does a great job of portraying a selfish, neurotic ass). Throughout the episode, we're supposed to feel a little bad for him as he desperately tries to get one of his other "friends" to help him get to his other appointments without Leonard. I didn't feel bad for him at all. The most exciting thing he offered to let one of his friends chauffeur him to was a trip to IKEA to purchase a picture frame and get some meatballs, but no one was about to take the bait. I feel like Sheldon is a bit of a curse and only Leonard is kind (weak? crazy?) enough to put up with it. I, on the other hand, would not have given in and nor decided to renew their ridiculous roommate agreement with the amendment of an annual "Leonard Day." Please. I suppose for someone like Sheldon, that would be the best you could hope for (especially because he isn't going to thank you for driving him to and fro), but I doubt that the appreciation will go beyond the card that Sheldon promised. A card? Really? For having to deal with him all day long as if you were some kind of servant? I know wishing for a huge change in Sheldon would probably ruin the dynamics of the show, but I can't help but want him to learn a little more common decency.
On another note, I have little interest in Leonard and Penny going through this "Beta Test" of a relationship. I'd rather see him date another girl than Penny again; they have chemistry, but they aren't that exciting as a couple. And when is Raj going to get himself a girl (handicap and all)? You know, a girl who isn't Siri?
Lastly, Howard getting the nickname "Fruit Loops" at the end of the episode was so predictable. Wish I could have laughed at it.
