Jaime Is Another Love Failure

The Mindy Project, S01E14

Mindy, tired of Lucy interfering with her new relationship with Jaime, fixed her up with Danny.  Danny and Lucy hit it off, but Mindy suspected that Jaime was more jealous about another man stealing Lucy's attention than he wanted to admit.  Jeremy also tried to help Morgan ask out a girl he liked who worked in the morgue.

After starting the episode off with Danny hungover and pants-less, the last thing I thought he would accomplish was some chemistry with a girl that Mindy randomly hooked him up.  Danny made it seem like he was going to mope the whole night away talking about his ex rather than sharing food with Lucy.  I loved that he was making a sort of rebound until Jaime decided to forget that he was even dating Mindy at that moment and started acting jealously.  It was like "Yay, for Danny!" but "Boo, for Mindy!"  When Jaime started aggressively eating off of Lucy's plate to worm himself between Danny and Lucy flirting with each other, I wished that Mindy would have called the date off right then.  She is a glutton for pain, though.  She tried to have him eat off her fork and talk about a possible tattoo, but she might as well been an empty chair because Jaime didn't even see her anymore.  Jaime joins the rest of the assholes that Mindy has wasted her time on.

The best thing about them going to the Empire State Building after they split from Danny and Lucy was that Mindy was smart enough to question whether Jaime really loved her or Lucy before she went to the place she thought was the most romantic spot on Earth.  If she had gotten to the top while Jaime was forcing himself to be with Mindy, I would have wanted her to push him off the edge.  Mindy is damn strong that she can be civil with Jaime after he was dancing around talking about how happy he was that he found his love with Lucy.  Mindy helped him to that realization and he still didn't have a shred of decency to edit himself for the sake of her feelings.  Nope.  Mindy was just second-rate actor in Jaime and Lucy's "movie."

I would have said her Valentine's Day was a disaster except that it was sort of sweet that Danny took her to the pizzeria where he met Christina.  Mindy didn't quite grasp the concept of even a crappy restaurant can be the most romantic place depending on the memories you make there, but I appreciate Danny salvaging the night by showing a little more vulnerability and opening up to Mindy.  Again, Mindy could do worse than him.  And with Josh, Brendon, and Jaime, she surely has.

There's not much to say about Morgan's story.  I mean, I liked that he ended up wanting more than sex from the girl he was trying to talk to, but besides that, the side story didn't add much.  It was slightly interesting to see Jeremy teach his moves to someone like Morgan who is more creepy than he is smooth.  I guess they are a little more friendly now?  Dunno.  Jeremy still hasn't become an endearing character yet.

I liked this episode, mostly because Danny was sort of charming, in spite of him starting off a little pathetic.  I mean, I'm quite over Mindy throwing herself out there for guys who aren't into her or are going to betray her.  I think we've established enough that she's not the best at picking men already.  It's time for her to find a guy that isn't just going to make a fool out of her.  Maybe she could just have a normal relationship problem for once.  That would be different.  Don't think I can take Mr. Mistake again.  I'm really starting to think that Mindy is cursed in love.

The Science Ninjas And The Number 43

Big Bang Theory, S06E08

Raj and Howard tried to find out what Sheldon was doing every day for 20 minutes in secret.  Leonard was jealous of Penny's new partner for class.

I was pretty happy to see Howard and Raj kicking it like old times.  It's been a while since the two of them were on an "adventure" together.  I've missed the vibe they have when they're together.  For instance, when Raj put his ear to the door next to Howard and their faces were dangerously close to one another.  That's the kind of stuff I missed about them.  Also, there was this one line of Raj where he made you think he was saying something sexual, but it went in the total opposite direction:
Boy, what I wouldn't give to get her out of those pants...and into something a little more stylish.
Oh, Raj.  It's probably comments like that that make it hard for him to attract a girl.  But at least that was pretty funny.

I knew that the two "science ninjas" would never figure out what Sheldon was up to, so I was a little annoyed at them slamming their forwards against the walls trying to decode the mystery of 43.  Knowing Sheldon, I figured it had to be something silly, but hacky sack was way off what I could have imagined.  He must be as stressed as he said, having to act human all day for the sake of others (insert eye roll).  I was most disappointed in the two ninjas when they were fooled by Sheldon's wormhole performance.  These guys are so smart and yet...  They have watched way too many sci-fi movies or something.  Sheldon isn't so dumb that he wouldn't realize that someone was trying to figure out his "secret," so if it was me, I would expect that he might mess with the video feed.  But sometimes I do think that Raj and Howard become a little dumber when they are together.  You would think their brainpower would be combined, but instead they feed into each others fantasies (almost like middle school boys or something).  I mean, I love that they are so stupid together, but come on.  There's no way that video of Sheldon was real.

Not much to say about Penny and Leonard.  I was going to be pissed that there was just another story about Leonard being jealous of any guy coming within 100 feet of Penny until the story ended up being pretty significant.  Penny finally told Leonard that she loved him without even realizing it.  Well, about damn time.  I still don't really like them as a couple, but maybe hearing that will calm Leonard down.  And if things don't work out, he always has Sheldon's assistant who is nearly beating him over the head with flirting.  I'd like to see her finally get through to Leonard and have him give Penny more of a taste of what he's been going through for seasons and seasons.

This was pretty good episode.  I have really missed Raj and Howard teaming up to do something.  It's been way too long.  I also liked that there was minimum Sheldon because I tend to just get angry at him when he's not paired with Amy.  Leonard finally got to hear the words he was longing to hear, but I'm any more convinced that Penny and Leonard will make it than I ever was.  Hopefully, Leonard will go for the new woman on the scene and I can stop sighing each time I see him fretting about losing Penny every other week.

Take That Penny!

Big Bang Theory, S06E03

Sheldon hired a new assistant to look through his old journals and papers to see if there was anything brilliant in there, and Amy felt threatened by a woman working closely with him.  However, when Amy dragged Penny along to spy on the assistant, Penny was the one who became worried about her and Leonard.  Howard was getting antsy and unraveled during his final days of space and getting worse with the news his return home would be delayed.

After last week, I was questioning whether I really liked the little side story about Howard in space until he started to go insane this time.  I liked how it was sort of a turn on or something for him to see people drop pencils for him, and it had made Raj uncomfortable when Howard had asked him to do that for him numerous times.  But my favorite thing was when Howard was trying to make a secret code for him and Bernadette to speak in:
We should probably talk in code. From now on, "frog" is me, "sandwich" means you and "lemon" means rocket.  So, come on, sandwich, build me a lemon 'cause froggy wants to come home!
That was probably my favorite line of the episode.

Another notable quote was when Amy and Penny were putting on makeup and Amy remarked how the eyelash curler looked:
[Amy] Looks like something used by Tinker Bell's gynecologist.[Amy] Who I hope for her sake is not Captain Hook, so...
A little gross, but pretty clever.  I don't think I'll look at an eyelash curler the same again.

What I liked most about this episode was that Penny finally got a little payback for stringing along Leonard when she saw that Alex and he were having a pretty good conversation.  Maybe Leonard's not the most desirable guy, but it's nice to see them do a story where Penny is reminded that Leonard does have options if he were to stop blinding himself with his love for her (which can't possibly last if she keeps treating him like a charity case).  I really hope that sort of thing continues on in the next episode.  Oh, and I liked how Leonard sort of set up Raj so he could easily chat with Alex, but in Raj's condition of being unable to speak to women he just moved to a different table.  That was a great moment too.  Almost as good as Penny experiencing some jealousy.

For once I sort of want to see what happens next.  It would be interesting if Alex wanted to date one of the guys, no matter who it was.  Although, I would most like to see her get with Raj because he really hasn't had any luck with girls at all.  Like I've said many times, it's way past due for someone to throw him a bone!  Come on, when are we going to see Raj find love??

Eden Rocks The Altman Boat

Suburgatory, S01E20

George continued to have problems while dating Eden, the biggest being that Noah was being overprotective of her and his baby inside of her.  Shelia started to fill Jill's head with the possibility that Eden would try to steal Noah away from her, adding to the negative atmosphere around Eden.  Tessa was enjoying her job at Dallas' store and got a promotion.  However, George, noticing how much time and money she was putting into her job, asked Dallas to cut back Tessa's hours.  Dallas agreed, even though George just wanted Tessa to have more time to spend getting to know Eden.  In a side story, Lisa began to think that she was adopted and looked for evidence.

George really must have no other friends he can make because if he did have another option besides Noah, I would say he was an idiot to continue interacting with Noah at all.  He has gone above and beyond paranoid and intrusive with his questions about George's intimacy with Eden and making George sign a contract about what he could and couldn't do with Eden while pregnant.  I was really hoping that Noah's insanity would make George snap, and he might literally slap some sense into him.  However, George kept respecting his friend's crazy demands, while Eden could barely hug George without him awkwardly pulling away.

I'm not sure what nosy Shelia is up to, but I can't believe Jill was so stupid to listen to her.  Everyone in town knows that woman does nothing but give out advice that no one asked for or needed.  And she's a chronic gossip.  She'll say anything, as long as it looks true enough in her eyes, regardless of what the facts might be.  I don't know if Lisa's conclusion that her mother's strange actions are linked to her being adopted, but that would be an interesting turn of events.  It would be sad, though, that her family treats her like an afterthought and she was an adopted child.  It'd be like why did you adopt her if you were only going to make her feel second-best all the time?

As for Tessa, it was nice to see her so good at her job and making some serious cash.  I got annoyed that George had been busy with Eden and hadn't even seen Tessa for a while, but only wanted to start spending time with her again so that she could get to know Eden.  How selfish!  Even if he thought Tessa was in danger of spending too much money or becoming Dallas or something, as long as Tessa was happy and doing well at school, why bother her??  Sure he and Eden has something special, but it didn't give him the right to be butting into her life like that.  As sweet as I thought it was that George provided Eden refuge from crazy Noah and Jill, I leaned toward taking Tessa's side who had to suddenly live with her father's new girlfriend and had to work less at a job she was doing well at.  No matter how well Tessa and Eden may get along, I think that George owes Tessa a huge apologetic gesture.

The last thing I thought was good about this episode was that Dallas started to show signs of jealousy that Eden and George were clicking so well.  So her feelings for George are still there, after all.  It's nice to see the shoe on the other foot because I know that George wasn't too pleased with all the boy toys Dallas had after her divorce, too.  But since he has met Eden, he hasn't bothered with Dallas since (until needing her to cut back Tessa's hours).  I'd love to see Dallas and Eden interact soon.  It'd be funny to see her try to hide her dislike of Eden.

Good episode, although I would have loved some more Dalia in it.  I'm interested to see what Lisa finds out from the DNA test she seemed to be taking at the end.  I wonder how Ryan's feelings would change for her if she was adopted?  It'll be even more interesting to see how Tessa handles another woman under her roof.  I'm pretty sure that even as sweet as Eden appears to be, there's little chance that Tessa will welcome her into their home with open arms.  Sounds like we can expect some entertaining conflict in the next episode!

Yeah, No One Wants Cleveland's Life

The Cleveland Show, S03E16

Cleveland, depressed about the humdrum of his shitty life, met a new coworker who quickly becomes his new best friend.  Donna demanded that Cleveland not see her anymore, but Cleveland, of course, ignored ier and continued their friendship until Donna caught them and threw a frapp in his face.  Thanks to Rallo and Junior making an online video of the attack, a famous producer named Willy Nilly came to whisk Cleveland off to Hollywood to make more videos.  Instead of Cleveland getting fame, he got another man trying to steal his life and his wife, but Cleveland easily showed the man that being Cleveland Brown is not the fantasy that he first imagined.

Rather than be glad to hear one of my favorite songs from a movie, I was dismayed to hear Cleveland singing the words to "Mad World." It's like going to karaoke and listening to someone butcher a song (or purposely sing in a way to mock it).  I liked the depressing montage, but I wished they had used a song I didn't know, so I hadn't been tempted to shout "Boo!!" the whole time.  If they bought the rights to use the song, why not let the original artist sing it.  That would have made the opening fabulous.  Instead, I have to complain about Cleveland singing again.  I have never liked one damn song he has ever done (or any of the songs in Seth MacFarlane world).

After Cleveland made an attractive new friend, the story moved in a way I didn't expect.  I mean, a woman clearly more attractive than Donna (and fun) came along, and they were getting closer without her consent, yet that matter was forgotten pretty much as soon as Rallo and Junior's video made Cleveland famous.  I would have thought Cleveland and the girl might become even creepily closer or something might happen romantically between the two to prove Donna's point.  No, her point got across when Willy Nilly became her friend and Cleveland got jealous.  I was a little annoyed it turned out this way (don't care to see Donna treated like she's all that), until Cleveland stopped feeling sad for himself and gave Willy a Cleveland reality check.  The best part of him showing him how bad his life is was when he showed him how he starts each day.  The kids were acting crazy, especially Rallo who was naked and hitting the wall with a hammer while saying "Hammer Time!"  I loved Willy Nilly and Cleveland's remarks after that:
[Willy Nilly] Whoa!  Why are they even awake?
[Cleveland] They're always awake!
It didn't take Cleveland long at all to show that no one in their right mind would want his life, even if Donna was a part of it.  More so the latter because Donna was seen without her wig, saggy boobs practically to her knees, and bits of all the boiled eggs she eats in her teeth.  Okay, I know Cleveland needed to make a point, but damn!  I didn't think they could make Donna look worse than she did in that episode with the man girdle.  I just don't understand why she needs to look so bad--she's not that old.  But I guess having the two kids and the stress of doing it alone can do that to you.  Yeesh.

I guess it was nice that the glamor-less life that Cleveland has can help him stop a celebrity from taking over his life and prove his wife right at the same time.  Although, I guess she wasn't right because Cleveland's coworker had no plans to move in on him, but I guess it's good enough he learned that it can be uncomfortable to see one's partner with a person of the opposite sex.

I was hoping that Rallo and Junior would have a little more screen time after their video had so much success, but no such luck.  It was a pretty good Cleveland-centered story, though, and I guess it was because the idea of anyone wanting to be Cleveland was absurd enough to be amusing.  You'd probably have to be a drunk living in a gutter to think that Cleveland was living the good life.
