2 Broke Girls, S02E16

The random hookup Max had from a backstage at a concert earned the girls two tickets to the Grammys and a trip to LA on a private plane.  They were fortunate to meet 2 Chainz on the plane, but not so lucky when the plane had engine trouble.

I felt a little out of the loop that I had no idea who 2 Chainz was, nor what song Caroline kept singing and referring to.  It would have helped me find her horrible singing even funnier.  Still, I enjoyed how unnatural it sounded for her to keep talking about "big booty hos."  It doesn't seem like that would be her jam at all.  Nor would it be the kind of music that Han would be listening to either.

The best thing was that Max got a bit of luck by screwing a guy who could get her Grammys tickets and rides on a private plane--wow.  Among the girls' random fortunes, this is one of the top.  I wouldn't have expected that they would get to fly in a plane like that any time soon.  It was also a nice twist that it happened to be Caroline's old plane.  It sort of reminds you of all the things she's lost.  Now that I've been watching this show for a while, it's hard for me to remember that Caroline didn't grow up in the same financial background as Max.

One of the funniest things that happened on the plane was when Max put her boobs on a sleeping 2 Chainz to sneak a picture of the two of them together.  That was just so Max-like to go that far.  And it was so Caroline-like to get caught with her ass all up on him when he finally did wake up.  The two of them should have tried being a little quieter if they didn't want to get found out.

The other thing I liked was when Caroline was talking to the co-pilot and he was relishing all of the drugs he did.  He tried to assure Max that he was off the stuff by saying that he went sober after seeing the movie Flight, which Max remarked was still in the theaters.  If some pilot felt like he could relate to that movie, no matter how long ago he was sober, I would not be flying with that guy.  Denzel did some crazy shit in that movie, and it is not a movie I want to hear referred to by a pilot while in the air.

Speaking of pilots, I was a little grossed out by Pilot Bill hitting on Caroline.  Mostly because he's twenty years older and has probably known Caroline since she was in her early twenties, at least.  Eww.  He just had this creepy vibe that I wish that Caroline didn't have to cater to in order to ensure them a safe flight.  I hope that she turned him down once that plane crashed into a cornfield.

I liked this episode, and I'm wondering if Max will still be seeing that guy from backstage.  It's been too long since she was involved with anyone, and it'd be nice to turn the spotlight on her love life for a little while.  It might distract me from the fact that I wish Andy was back.  I'll want him to be back even more if I have to see Caroline lower her standards for people like Bill.  She might be broke now, but she needs to maintain some kind of standards.

Curse That Fortune-Teller

2 Broke Girls, S02E15

The girls were having problems affording the supplies they needed for their cupcakes when they were being paid so badly at the diner.  Caroline got them an application for a grant for small businesses, but later spent a bunch of money on fortune-telling.  Max took Caroline to get her money back from the fortune teller, and the two ended up being cursed by her.

It was a bit of a shock that Andy was suddenly gone from across their shop, but I guess it makes sense that he has to be gone for good or it'll be strange to explain why we haven't seen him despite being neighbors with Caroline and Max's shop.  I felt the absence of Andy more when Amir was introduced and he and Max exchanged banter in a way that was almost like Andy and Max (if Andy was trying to hit on her).  The two of them were not funny at all as a pair, making me wish Andy was still on the show all the more.  His sudden disappearance does leave room for him to suddenly reappear with any flimsy explanation really, but such a happy outcome is in no way guaranteed.  Boo.

I almost felt bad for Han when everyone was telling him to not be a bitch and just sign the recommendation for Caroline and Max.  I mean, once again they are asking a favor of him (although not one I think would damage his reputation much), and they railroad him into doing it instead of letting him do it on his own.  However, I slightly changed my mind when Han wrote his own recommendation for them and it didn't sound that flattering.  It was certainly truthfully, but I don't think if they had submitted that recommendation that it would have helped them.  No wonder they'd rather just bully him into doing things their way rather than give him the option of helping them in his way.

I was pretty disappointed in how Caroline reacted with the fortune-telling and the curses.  I think she was still in shock that Andy chose to bolt town in the middle of the night rather than see her again.  I'm sure that had rattled her confidence about her relationships with men.  Still, to steal eggs and such from the dinner because they're hurting for money and then turn around to buy a crystal for 50 bucks is barely forgivable.  Max is a good friend not to slap the hell out of her.  It's definitely one of those times where I would want Caroline to think more about the business than her love life.  They're making jokes about whether they'll live until winter and she's going to blow money on something that dumb?  Hell, no.  And hell, no to that bitch fortune-teller who refused to give them refunds, cursed them, and then made them pay another 50 bucks to have the fake curses removed.  It's annoying as hell to see them being taken advantage, especially when the girls are conscious that they are being fleeced!  I hate seeing scam artists like that lady winning in the end.  Wish Max or Caroline would have thrown a fake curse at her.

I don't know if there was much of a good ending to the story.  The girls felt better hearing their fortunes of success and love, but after what that lady put them through I wouldn't believe her if she told me lighting would strike me and it did five seconds later.  Her ability to tell that it was going to snow proved nothing to me.  But I guess if Caroline could be put at ease because she thought she would be successful despite being alone, it's not the worst ending.  However, I was disappointed that they didn't get to submit their grant application nor get their money back.

I suppose you could say I didn't like this episode very much because it didn't turn out at all like I wanted it to.  I wouldn't have wanted Andy to disappear from the show as if he were an afterthought, nor would I want someone to try to sort of replace him.  The biggest fail for me was watching the girls fall prey to curses and the like.  That damn fortune-teller should have choked on that Chinese food she was eating at the beginning for all of her scams.  But at least the girls got semi-decent fortunes revealed by the end.  They live in a pretty gloomy situation now, so perhaps even false hope will turn into real hope for them.

Trading Z's For Some G's

2 Broke Girls, S02E12

The girls found out they had forgotten about a huge order of cupcakes due to their lack of sleep.  They snuck out of the diner earlier by faking an illness and tried to bake a thousand cupcakes in a limited time span while being extremely sleep deprived.

I was impressed by a lot of things in this story.  One being that Han is so nice that he keeps Caroline and Max around when they are sleeping blatantly in front of customers.  I guess he's just a super-understanding guy.  It was more amazing that after Max and Caroline faked being sick to cut work and then needed Han's help later, that he agreed.  He's just a big ol' sweetheart.  I mean, Max was piling on the short jokes and he still let them use his ovens.  They really owe him big.  The most impressive thing was that they were able to bake all those cupcakes in such a short time even with Earl and the others' help and especially since they ruined the majority of them at the near end.  Realistically, they shouldn't have been able to pull it off.  Not without one of them falling asleep in the oven or something.  A missing earring was like the least worst thing that could have happened.

I kept thinking there must have been some way they could have checked all those cupcakes without destroying them.  I mean, like sticking a toothpick or something in them?  I dunno.  Caroline probably wasn't thinking at full capacity when she just started tearing them up so quickly.  I would have tried to think of another way.  After all, once they covered them in frosting, I doubt anyone would notice a hole or two.  What a waste.  It was a bigger waste when you think about the earring not even being in any of them.  I guess it was just a way to add more drama and get that Andy issue out in the open.

I'll have to side with Caroline about it being a little weird that Max continued to be friends with Andy after the breakup.  They do have a good friendship and all, but there's no way for it not to be weird when Caroline and Andy still have some feelings for each other.  It would always be awkward and they wouldn't be able to keep Caroline completely out of it.  To my dismay, Andy did the right thing and broke up with Max too.  Aww.  They make such good besties.  Plus, Max loved all that free candy he could give her.  But she'd soon be looking like the worst friend ever to Caroline if she kept texting and talking to Andy as if nothing had happened.  Now I really wish Andy and Caroline would get back together some day.  Love the exchanges between Andy and Max that we'll not get to enjoy anymore.  Boo.

The funniest thing I found in this story was when Caroline was doing her guy voice terribly and she asked Max to let her hear hers.  Max responding that she's doing her guy voice right now was cute.  I liked it even better when Caroline and Max laughed at it together like they were going insane from lack of sleep.

Something that also caught my attention was when Max noted Andy's "Bradley Cooper tone."  He actually sort of looks like that actor--I wouldn't have noticed that before.  No wonder I think Andy is pretty good looking.  Which once again makes me sad if he's not going to make an appearance every now and then.

I liked this episode.  I don't know why, but it was sort of exciting to see hundreds of cupcakes being made.  It was incredible that they got it done in the state they were in and were able to collect $4,000 for it--damn.  If the girls keep this up, they may be in pretty good shape.  Just wish that Caroline and Andy's reunion was in good shape.  Unfortunately, it looks like the two have agreed to close the chapter on that book.  It doesn't stop me for wishing for their reconciliation, though!

Third Wheel Getaway

2 Broke Girls, S02E13

The girls won a getaway weekend for two, but Caroline's miscommunication with Andy turned it into a vacation for three.  Caroline promised to make it about her and Andy and not about Max and work, but Andy soon felt neglected and the couple's issues came to surface.

One of the things I liked in this episode was seeing Max enjoying the "luxury" of the place like the free slippers in the room and the pretzel rolls.  She is so cute when discovering things that people who have it a little better are full aware of already.  I also liked that she wasn't too much impressed by the sauna and was initially more impressed when she thought it was an outhouse.

The sauna brings about my second favorite thing in this episode: the girls meeting the bear couple.  They were just generally nice guys who provided some comedy as well as a place Max could run to when things got heated between Andy and Caroline.  My favorite scene was when Max was wearing their matching flannel pajamas and cozying up with them on the bed.  That was freaking adorable, especially when you throw milk and cookies into the mix.  It got slightly better when Caroline joined in too, but I really just liked when Max was making herself at home with her new friends.

I never had confidence that Caroline would live up to her promise to make the weekend about Andy, but I didn't expect their arguing to lead to them taking a break.  I freaking love Andy, but he made a lot of good points about why he found it necessary to separate from Caroline.  With their business just starting, Caroline really doesn't have the time to be completely invested in romance.  She's always been the ambitious type, so when opportunity knocks at her door, she's going to jump on it like a dog after a steak.  It's still disappointing, though, because they do have great chemistry and Andy and Max get along so well together too.  I doubt he's going to wait around for the cupcake shop to take off and for things to settle down a bit.   I wouldn't be surprised if Caroline caught him with another girl across the street in the near future.  I wish I could feel bad for Caroline, but I feel like she blew it.  But maybe it was doomed from the start because Caroline might not have been in the best position to be starting a new relationship.

I also thought the bride-to-be was interesting.  I liked that Max kept doubting her until the very end and assumed that her fiance in the store was a hired actor or someone with cake in his mouth.  She was so wrong for that.  And that lady was ridiculous on how much she loved their cupcakes.  She was moaning a little too much during her first taste testing.  I'm glad Max called her out on it and reminded her she wasn't alone.  Goodness.

This was a pretty good episode.  It wasn't one of the funniest, but it did give us an interesting look at how their cupcake business is affecting their loves lives, at least where Caroline is concerned.  I really hoped that Andy and her would stay together a little longer before something tore them apart, but I guess that was just wishful thinking.  It makes sense that until Caroline can prioritize something beyond her future cupcake empire, there's no room for anyone, much less Andy.  Even so, I'm looking forward to the awkwardness that will come thanks to Andy working across from them at his candy store.  Maybe since they will have to keep literally seeing each other, the possibility of them missing each other too much to stay apart for long is still on the table.

Shut It, Carol!

2 Broke Girls, S02E12

The girls were having trouble paying rent so Max was selling cupcakes to some potheads who needed snacks.  They upgraded into selling pot cupcakes and were surprised when they met Andy at their delivery site.

Of course, Caroline wouldn't be cool with Max selling cupcakes to people who are getting high, but if you think about it, when they sell cupcakes to anyone, they might be taking them home and enjoying them as a snack with their pot.  Caroline was being her usual annoying self, getting in the way of Max's profitable idea.  I mean, they didn't have much choice doing something a little shady when Caroline had too much pride to borrow money from Andy.  I was like, seriously?  You're going to be that proud when you're crawling on floors and jumping out of windows to avoid payment?

Anyway, one of my favorite parts was when Caroline was so proud that she had followed Max to find out that she was really following some guy with long, black hair.  I loved that not just because Caroline thought he was Max, but later when the guy was getting arrested, his girlfriend came out looking and sounding like Caroline.  They had somehow stumbled upon their meth doppelgangers.  Loved it.   Later, when Sophie came knocking at their door after they had finished making the pot cupcakes, Caroline shouted out just like Carol had when her boyfriend was being arrested.  I loved that Max responded to her the same way the guy had to Carol:

Shut it, Carol!  Shut it!

I was expecting that I would like Caroline being stoned since she said it made her personality change, but she was sort of worse than she was before.  I guess being overly positive is slightly better than all doom and gloom.  Then again, I guess it just depends how you do the latter.  Caroline wasn't being very funny about it--she was just sort of ruining their chance to get any money.  She also crushed that chance when she tossed out their cupcakes at Andy's arrival and hopped out to the fire escape.  The only thing I did like about her being high is that she had phone sex with Max.  It's funny because I'm not surprised she called her at all (especially with her admitting she'd marry Max if given three choices).

It was sweet that Andy gave Caroline money and said his success was pointless if he couldn't share it with her.  He's the best.  Caroline better never screw it up with him.  It was also sweet of the diner people to come and give money for the girls' rent.  I expected Caroline to turn down their money too, but luckily calling themselves family made her swallow her pride.  Wow.  I was sort of surprised that Han contributed because I kinda feel like he's a little pissed they're not working so hard at his business anymore.  Then again, he did succumb to Max's demands that he sit at their shop and eat eight cupcakes.  Either he is really afraid of her or he wants them to be successful on some level (maybe both).

I think I would have liked this episode even better if Caroline wasn't such a wet blanket about the pot.  Sure, it put their business into a gray area, but they gotta hustle if they want their business to stay afloat until they get a real customer base.  I hope by next time they have a better plan for getting the money so they don't have to hop out of windows to avoid their landlord.  If not, I hope they find something interesting like pot cupcakes again.  It's both an entertaining and cool idea.

Johnny And Max Never Meant To Be

2 Broke Girls, S02E10

Caroline and Max threw a party, celebrating the opening of their cupcake shop.  Max invited several of her ex-boyfriends to tell them to "suck it," including Johnny who she started seeing again to Caroline's dismay.

Wow, they have got the store ready really quickly!  I thought we might see a little more in-progress stories before we saw the cupcake shop actually set up for people to walk through there.  But it's not bad that things are moving faster than I expected.  I'm just glad that the party they threw was a success and it was mostly Max's choice to see Johnny again that brought the most trouble.

One of my favorite things in the episode was Max's "suck it" face.  I absolutely loved that face she made.  It was the perfection expression to really stick it to anyone that had crossed her in the past.  It's just too bad she didn't really get to use it in the right way on either of her exes.  In fact, Johnny found it to be a turn on.  I can't say that I'm surprised about that.  It was more of a confident, sexy look than a bitchy, ugly look.

It was also funny that Caroline and Max kept ignoring Han, who couldn't get into the party.  The best part of Han's struggles was when the doorman said they were at capacity, and then Robbie got into the party without more than saying who he was.  When Han complained about that, the doorman told him that he was only allowed to let in hot guys who looked like trouble.  When Earl got let in after that, I was rolling.  Not only because Earl fit into that category, but because Han was so angry about it.

Speaking of Earl, there was another funny moment when Caroline played Max's game of "Marry, Sleep With, Or Kill."  Caroline mistakenly thought she was supposed to consider Max and Earl and said she would sleep with Earl and marry Max.  I liked Earl's response to that:

I feel uncomfortable, Caroline.  Like I don't know how to look at you anymore.

Concerning Max and Johnny, I felt better knowing that she saw that they didn't belong together.  They do make a cute-looking couple, but their history together makes me hesitant about them being together in general.  I sort of let a sigh of relief to see her end things before she got hurt again.  They have some chemistry (that scene with them making out as gumballs rained down on them was nice), but I couldn't see Johnny sticking around or the fire between them lasting without Max knowing that she couldn't have him or vice-versa.  It's too bad, but I guess Max will have to stay single for a little while longer.

It's cool that Max's Cupcakes is open for business already, even if their party didn't make their goods fly off the shelves as they had probably expected.  I'm happy to see something hold them back a little bit because I'm not ready for them to be too successful yet (it wouldn't be any fun).  But I'm most happy that Max is smart enough to know when she has something real with someone and when she doesn't.  I'm sure we haven't seen the last of Johnny, but at least we probably don't have to expect that Max would ever to fool herself into thinking they should ever be together.

You Gotta Be "Ruthless"

2 Broke Girls, S02E09

Caroline and Max hired an intern to help them set up their shop, but Max's reluctance to be a hardass boss made their intern lazy and take advantage of them.

I'm surprised that Caroline and Max have gotten as much done as they have, even when one of them isn't showing up to work on time.  I would have never guessed they would try to hire an intern, but in theory, it was a great idea.  I liked the idea more when Andy suggested it as well, making it seem like he and Caroline are a great match.  I thought they would get a lot of crazy people answering their ads, but it looked more like Caroline and Max were the crazy ones, making young girls work in their rat-infested store.

Speaking of rats, they were quite funny in this episode.  The first one we saw, Caroline beat the hell out of it with a paint roller, to my surprise.  She may be annoying, but at least she can kill a rat.  I need a friend like that because I would have left that store right then and there.  Before Caroline squashed it to the floor, there was a funny line from Max after Caroline asked Max why she thought the rat was male:

He looked at me kind of rapey.

That, along with the rat coming in and of doors made it really creepy!  So much so that you didn't feel that bad when Caroline was murdering it.  I'm really surprised that after that powerful beating she gave it, she didn't have blood and paint on her face.  Go figure.

Later, when they were collecting the chairs from the junkyard it was hilarious to see Max flinging the rats off of Caroline.  Wow.  I'm not sure what I would have done in that situation (besides run for my life), but I'm pretty sure that touch those nasty things would have been at the very bottom of my list.  I have to give Max more credit, even though I give her a lot already.

Ruth (who I guess I recognize because I watch SNL) was a good character just because she made Max so powerless.  I would have expected Max who gives her customers the business for wearing Bill Cobsy-esq sweaters would be able to tell a college girl to get off her damn phone and set up some rat traps.  But I get that Max didn't want to be a tool.  It's a shame that it took her lifting up a heavy object and throwing some rats before she had the conviction to kick Ruth to the curb.  I would have liked to see Max be powerful through ordering around the intern from the beginning.  It's not often we get to see Max in a position above someone else.  Maybe they'll hire someone else (maybe with big boobs Max can identify with, haha) and Max will get a second chance.

I liked this episode.  It somehow feels exciting to see them working in their shop and picking up ghetto chairs that they'll have to restore.  Usually I'd be getting annoyed with the slow process, but I'm enjoying it.  I wonder what they'll have gotten done by the next episode. 

Max Is The Best Cougar Ever

2 Broke Girls, S02E07

Caroline was having problems getting Andy turned on and suspected that he was gay.  Max and Caroline also briefly took in some Amish boys to build a barn for them.

I had a feeling that Andy would feel intimidated knowing who Caroline really was.  It was kinda funny to watch her trying her hardest to attract him.  The worst thing she did was try to act like a classless, poor girl and was talking like a moron.  That was painful to watch.  However, when she got up and danced with Jacob that was the funniest thing I've seen all week (and even last week).  I don't know why but seeing how overly excited Jacob got while Caroline was shaking her ass all up on him was insanely good.  And it only got better when Jacob collapsed on the floor while holding his crotch.  Poor Jacob, but so freaking funny.

Speaking of the Amish boys, I loved how Max interacted with them.  As soon as they used manners on her, she took a liking to them:

“Ma’am”?  You know what, that’s kind of hot. I always thought I’d have to wait 20 more years to be a cougar, but, rawr, here I am.

She later "rawr"-ed again, which I also loved.  I don't know what it was, but Max checking out those clueless guys like pieces of meat was so funny.  I could totally see her with a boy toy.  It would just be like her to take command in a relationship and have someone wrapped around her finger.  Sophie was almost as funny as Max, but she was a little too aggressive, which made her border on being a little too creepy (but still funny).  I wouldn't have been mad at her if she had gone for one of them.  It would have been a little wrong, but Max can pull it off without looking like a degenerate.

I really felt bad for Jacob having to stay around Max and Caroline and being subject to such girls that made him have erections all the time!  At least they didn't make him feel like a weirdo because of it (because they were sort of turning him on purposely).  They just could have stopped wearing tiny shorts and showing their bras.  Haha.

This is one of my favorite episodes ever.  I just really loved how Max was acting and watching poor Jacob suffer while under Caroline and Max's care.  I sort of wish they could take advantage of some Amish boys every time.  Haha.  I don't care too much about Caroline and Andy because I think they'll be fine.  They way they were making out at the end, I'm sure Andy gonna be sticking around for at least a few more episodes.

Candy Andy

2 Broke Girls, S02E06

Max took Caroline to lunch at a soup kitchen, and they met a cute candy store owner named Andy.  Although Andy was interested in dating Caroline, she was too embarrassed to face him after puking on him and being caught masturbating at home.  Han also battled for Sophie about her right to claim her favorite booth as her any time she pleased.

This was a cute episode.  Usually I wouldn't cheer for Caroline getting a man, but since he offered benefits for Max (she is surely a candy whore, haha) and was nice enough to not care about Caroline's bad first impression, I was a lot more interested in him making another appearance.  One of my favorite things about him and this story period was that he played "Pure Imagination" at one point in his store.  I loved that.  I didn't think his store was all that, but at least he could appreciate Willy Wonka and that gives him points.  I also thought it was cute that he told them that since they had just met to just call him "Candrew Andrew" instead of "Candy Andy."  Usually I hate stuff like that, but his delivery was on point, so it ended up being a good flirt.

I thought the masturbation thing would be the end for Caroline's chances to get Andy, but luckily, he's a big enough dork to come to their restaurant and try to embarrass himself.  I just liked seeing Max more exited for their potential love life because she wanted the free candy for life (though unless he's going to be selling candy forever, I don't see how he could live up to that promise).  I want to see Max milking more from their relationship in the future.

It was kinda funny to see Han try to stand up to Sophie.  I liked her telling him to stand in the corner when he tried to make her move.  I thought there was no way he could win against her and was surprised when he stood his ground by sitting at Sophie's favorite booth.  But it wasn't too surprising that Sophie just went ahead and changed her favorite booth and made some other customers move away.  She's a lady that knows how to take charge and Han is not the one to bring her down.  I wonder if he'll ever try that again.

Looking forward to seeing more of Candy Andy.  He seems like an easy-going person who could maybe make Caroline mellow out sometime.  He has to be able to handle some crazy stuff if he can overlook all the unpleasant things Caroline did meeting him for the first time.  But most of all, I want to see Max grabbing all the candy she can from Andy before Caroline screws things up or something.  Max and free candy are great new combination.

Piss-Pants Coward

2 Broke Girls, S02E03

Caroline used Max as a shield when her life was threatened and peed her pants in fear of a robber.  Max took Caroline to the movies without paying for a ticket and hinted that she wasn't over being Caroline's shield.

Caroline not only has the worst looking pee face I've ever seen, but is a straight up cold bitch for throwing Max in front of her when a gun was pointed her way.  Then the piss-pants coward thought apologizing twice was enough to compensate putting Max's life in trouble.  Seriously?  I can't believe her.  Then at the end when Max fled the scene when they were about to get caught without tickets, Caroline said they were even in selfishness.  Hardly!  Max could have died.  Maybe Caroline would have been locked up for a little while--but not dead or paralyzed from a random shot!  She was right that both girls are looking out for number one, but to say that Max is on the same par as Caroline is stretching it.  No, I'm gonna have to disagree there.

It's also interesting that Han is so young.  I mean, I thought he was maybe in his 30s, though, so it's funny that he's still in his 20s.  The running gag where everyone was shocked by his age was pretty funny.  And it was slightly funny to see Han pull out a gun from his fanny pack.  That was the last thing I expected him to pull out.  He is full of surprises.  Furthermore, it's surprising that Max now thinks he cool enough to hang out with in the future.  Haha.  She has his eye on him.  I'm pretty sure she'll be disappointed the day she decides to make good with that offer.

Good episode.  I have another reason to dislike Caroline, but it's not like I'm asking for her blood (because I know how she's supposed to be).  I'm glad they decided to show a little more of Han's depth since so far we don't know more about him than him being a dork who sometimes argues with him mom on the phone.  What else might we learn about Han?  I'll hope they continue to put a spotlight on him from time to time, rather than have us learn anything else about someone like Oleg.  I'm fine with him being as one-dimensional as possible.

2 Broke Girls, S02E01

Strangely, I was comforted to see this show back on, and I looked forward to the season premiere on Monday (especially because HIMYM wasn't too funny and I checked out a lukewarm premiere of Partners before).  It took me a moment to get used to all the dirty jokes crammed into a thirty minute show, but I was laughing a hell of a lot more watching Max and Caroline attend an estate auction for the Channing house.  They went because Caroline's father wanted Caroline to win an item back for herself.  It wasn't the best story I've ever seen, but after the rest of the crap I had watched on CBS that night, it was pretty entertaining in comparison.

First of all, we got to see Martin Channing's face for the first time.  What I loved most about that was that Max was charmed by him to the point that she was saying things like she would be Caroline's stepmother one day.  Although it's a little creepy for your friend to be hitting on your father, I just love Max in general, so I couldn't help but think that it would be actually kinda interesting if she did seriously go for Mr. Channing.  I hope that they will, despite Caroline being a little disillusioned by him, continue to visit him in prison together so I can see Max bat her eyes at him and promise to do whatever he asks of her.

It would have been nice if there really was money in that trophy that Max and Caroline spent 200 bucks getting back, but that would be a little too good for them.  I mean, the show is about them being broke, so it wouldn't be good if they suddenly had a bunch of money.  I would have said that it was a rip that they had to go to the auction in the first place if it wasn't for them meeting Hamish there.  His character (along with his ridiculous dog, Pickle) were the highlight of this episode for me.  I wish he could appear again because he was an unlikely and pleasant antagonist for the two.  The best line of the episode came from him and Max:

[Hamish] I'm a paddle bitch.
[Max] I'm a bitch bitch.

I was wondering in the first place who would want someone's trophy for their own (I mean, it has someone else's name inscribed on it) until Hamish said he was going to have his dog bathe in it.  Ridiculous.  But I loved Hamish.  Really made me appreciate this show and the random people that Caroline and Max meet.

This episode felt like it took away a bit of the stomachache I got from watching the shows the preceded it last night.  Sure, it wasn't brilliant or really inventive or anything, but it made me laugh a hell of a lot more than anything else.  So happy this show is still on the air--I think it'll be really useful to provide me with a little bit of the comedy that's missing for me on Monday!

Cupcake Cinderellas

2 Broke Girls, S01E23-24

The girls were excited about a meeting with a famous party business owner who had initially agreed to look at their cupcakes, but was only giving them the runaround because he didn't want anything to do with the bad publicity associated with Caroline's father.  After this and some hate mail Caroline got, she got depressed and lost her fighting spirit.  It returned with both Max bringing back Chestnut and Max trying to save face with her old fling Johnny by bragging she would be doing business with Martha Stewart soon.  Caroline suggested that they really go meet Martha Stewart at a gala that Caroline frequented in her wealthier days.  With help from their friends, Max and Caroline were able to dress the part and make it there in time.  They were denied access at the door, but they managed to sneak in as servers and change back into their fancy garb in the bathroom.  While Caroline was finishing changing back, they stumbled into Martha and got her to taste their cupcake.

I would have thought that Caroline would be used to her name giving her trouble while her father was still being punished for his possible crimes.  At this point in the game, her getting depressed about hate mail and blocks to their cupcake success should have been just another day for them.  When Max brought Chestnut back to cheer her up, I almost wished that the horse had trampled all over her.  I would have just left her alone with her woe-as-me attitude.  Maybe Max hasn't gotten such hateful letters before, but she's definitely gone through enough hardships that Caroline's worries should look like a trip to the ice cream shop in comparison.

What did get things interesting was when Johnny showed up at the dinner.  I loved how Earl was treating him like a piece of trash.  It was so funny!  However, I wished that Max had just played it cool and not boasted about her own success to compete with all the good things happening in Johnny's life.  But I can't blame her.  He had success and an engagement to announce.  I think the best thing he could have done to make amends with Max was to not show up in her life at all.  All it did was make her feel ashamed about how far she had come with her own goals.  However, if he hadn't come along to talk about how great he was doing Caroline might not have had the idea for them to speak to Martha Stewart.

I knew from the moment that Caroline said she didn't have anything to wear to the gala back at their apartment that Sophie would be the one to provide them with clothes.  The montage where they were trying on clothes wasn't that great (except the moment where Max and Sophie were playing with each others' boobs), but the dress that Max picked in the end was really beautiful on her.  She really has a chest to die for.  If I could look that great in a dress like that, I would totally wear it.  I'm always excited to see Max outside of her ugly, mustard-colored uniform, but this time she really looked fabulous (Caroline was all right).

Earl was so sweet when he brought them corsages.  It was like they were going to the prom or something and he was a proud father.  That added to the element that the night was going to be magical, not unlike Cinderella going to her first ball (it would be Max's first gala).

I don't know about them getting to the event on a horse, though.  Wouldn't it be hard to go fast on it in the streets of New York?  There's no one they didn't encounter traffic.  But I liked how they were able to charm the policemen into holding Chestnut for them and not arresting them for riding a horse on a bridge illegally.  Plus, it would have been just too much if after all of that they ended up in jail.  It would have been more realistic, but not very entertaining for the sake of this show.

Since they were later spending so much time in the bathroom, I had a feeling that was where they would meet Martha.  I liked that Caroline was bad-mouthing her a bit before she realized she was there.  She also had a lot of balls to say such things to her and then offer her the smooshed cupcake right there in the bathroom.  This once again confirms that Caroline is the muscle in their business--she gets shit done.  They got Martha's approval and got her to take their business card.  That was more than I thought they might accomplish.

I think this was an acceptable season finale.  It wasn't ground-breaking, but this isn't what this show is about anyway.  Will the girls finally get some legitimate business now that Martha has their business card?  Who knows if we'll ever find out, considering it's not a guarantee that this show will be picked up next season.  Whether it does or not, I will say that I've enjoyed what I've seen so far, even with all the distasteful jokes and superficial plot developments.  I want to see what else is in store for Max, so I'll try to keep positive about the future of this show.

Jess And Nick Are Morons, But They Belong Together

New Girl, S01E23

Jess tried to get over her breakup with Russell.  She seemed to be on the path to recovery until Nick made her think that under different circumstances, dating a lover from the past could be promising.  She ended up sleeping with Paul, which eventually led her to helping him propose to his girlfriend Jen.  Nick decided to move in with Caroline, even though he warned himself not to go down that path with her again in a DVD.  Winston got an earring after a wild night with his boss and refused to admit that it looked ridiculous.  Schmidt and Cece tried to find a way to interact with each other without turning Schmidt on since his penis was still broken.

I didn't have much time to feel bad about Jess moping about Russel because her friends' reaction to her listening to a record of "River" over and over were really funny.  The champion of complaints about her music polluting the apartment was Winston by far:

I liked it when you played it for the first time at 10 o'clock last night. I liked it a little bit less at 2 a.m., and now I'm kind of hoping that the sun comes up, thaws that river, and that woman drowns.

Sometimes Winston is the only one who knows just what to say (even though that didn't get her to stop the record).

When Jess was making a booty call after Schmidt got too distracted by Cece to make sure Jess didn't backslide, I had a feeling it wouldn't be Russell.  I was a little happy to see Paul show up again, as he is the boy version of Jess, but greatly disappointed to find out that he was in already in a happy relationship.  I thought it would be impossible for Jess to get out of that situation without looking like a huge whore or destroying what Jen and Paul had, but she managed to help him propose.  Wow.  That's amazing.  I mean, she even said the actual propose words for him and pushed him down to one knee.  I guess she really is the female version of Paul because Jess basically proposed to Jen herself.  That has to be love when you can have the girl your man cheated with propose to you and you agree with little hesitation.

What isn't love is whatever Caroline and Nick are doing.  I was really counting on Past Nick to knock some sense into him, but all it did was make him convinced that moving in with Caroline would be a better decision than the lack of progress he's made by being apart from her.  Damnit, Nick.  Caroline is probably part of the reason you can't move on because you haven't burned her from your life yet.  He's such a moron!  Jess had this pretty sweet speech to him about not settling and how she would handle the voice in his head that discourages him, and he basically barfed in her face with the news he was moving in with Caroline.  I wanted to jump through the TV and choke him!  He ruined the moment!  This could have been their turning point that let Nick see that Jess is the girl for him.

Jess and Nick being morons was my main focus in this episode.  The only good thing about Cece and Schmidt's story is that Schmidt's penis is still out of service, so we don't have to hear his disgusting stories about how he has screwed Cece.  Cece's grandmother was a cute little lady, though.  Besides that, I didn't care what they were doing.  As far as Winston was concerned, he was the only good side dish to Jess and Nick dancing off to "Bad Decision Land."  My favorite joke at the expense of Winston's increasingly bad earring (it started off as a stud and ended with a flamboyant feather type) was one of Nick's:

Oh, and Mr. T called. He wants to punch you because that earring looks stupid.

For being the voice of reason most of the time, it's incredible that he couldn't see how gaudy his piercing looked.

This was kind of an exciting episode to see how the stupid actions of Nick and Jess would pan out.  It's unfortunate that Jess' revelation of moving forward was too late to influence Nick's decision to move out.  I'm unhappy that he couldn't listen to reason, but I know that somehow Jess and/or the others will find a way to help Nick before he reverts back to the sad sack we had to see in the DVD.  As long as something goes horribly wrong (as it often does) for Nick while he's living under one roof with Caroline, there's still hope that he will come to his senses and start seeing Jess as his destined match.  If Nick ends up happy shacking up with Caroline in the next episode, however, someone needs to shoot him.

Stop Hatin' On Her Purse

2 Broke Girls, S01E21

Caroline kept coming down on Max about her messy and randomly ordered purse.  Her comments didn't convince Max to get a new purse, but did convince her to shun her help with her taxes and pay someone else to do them.  Max nearly had her taxes done by someone with little knowledge of what he was doing and nearly gave up filing them for the first time at all.  After the girls had to dig in the dumpster to find Earl's tax forms that Max had mistakenly thrown at, Max had a change of heart about putting off filing her taxes and rushed to do them before the post office closed.  They just barely managed to submit the envelope before it hit midnight.

As a girl who doesn't have a purse where everything is always in the proper place, I identified with Max and her style of organization.  If Caroline wanted to help Max, especially with her taxes, she didn't need to make so much fun about how the contents of Max's purse on any given day were a mystery.  Since they are friends, I would expect her to rag on her a little bit and then get on with it, but Caroline just went on and on about it.  For someone who has never done taxes in her life, instead of trying to discourage her about her bad habits, Caroline should have applauded her for trying.  Because according to Max's cycle of giving up on her taxes, she basically gave up each time before she even started.  But then again, it's not Caroline's fault that Max kept putting off filing each year.  Still, Caroline just needs to shut up sometimes and see things from others' points of view.

I didn't think it was so gross that they were in the dumpster.  Caroline described some of the stuff she was standing in, but at least the trash wasn't all wet and had been sitting out in the sun.  And neither complained of insects or rodents moving around in there.  I was hoping that their trash fight would get more intense, but it each of them got one toss at each other and they were done.  And wasn't even that bad of stuff.  Some noodles and I don't even know what Caroline dumped on Max, but it was solid enough that she could just brush it off.  Can't believe they were going to shower after that with the clock ticking.  I would have just toweled off and frebrezed myself so I could make the post office deadline.

I liked that Max reconsidered doing her taxes on time after seeing that her drug dealer, a single mother, and a blind man could all do their taxes within the time frame (albeit at the last minute, but still on time).  And it was cute that everyone was helping her fill out the forms and cheering her on.  I thought the all-business postal worker was going to throw Max's non-stamped envelope back at her, but she was nice enough to cover for her.  Aww.  Guess that lady was sweeter than she looked.  I really like that this show has a pretty much guaranteed happy ending.  Or at least one where things end up on toward the upside.

This wasn't one of my favorite episodes, due to Caroline talking too much, but it wasn't too bad.  I wasn't too interested in what was going on with Sophie and Oleg (ugh), but that story was so small that it really wasn't worth mentioning until now.  I just wonder with Max filing her taxes for the first time if there will be another episode where she has to endure penalties or something.  It would be nice if they just overlooked that for TV's sake, but I worry that the more she starts to act like a proper, contributing adult, the more she is going to have to pay money that she doesn't have.  I guess, though, that will make for some interesting stories later, but since I like Max the best, so I'm always concerned how things are ultimately going to affect her.

Drug Trial Side Effect Is Bad Deposition

2 Broke Girls, S01E20

Caroline's old lawyer came to ask her to give a deposition, but his fees to represent her were way out of her price range.  Max suggested they earn the money through a drug trial, even though Caroline was pensive about putting untested drugs into her body.  They spent the night waiting for any of the side effects that were described to them, but it looked like they were given the placebo.  At the time of Caroline's deposition, however, one of the symptoms showed itself and made her unable to speak properly.  Max spoke on her behalf and reminded Caroline's lawyer that her father is a good man who is worth doing Caroline a favor.  Thanks to his kindness Caroline was able to speak later when her condition had gotten better.

There wasn't much to say about the girls' adventure this time.  I would have thought that a drug test would have been more interesting (the nurse Toby was probably more so than the drugs they took), but the night they spent with their constantly peeing roomie was pretty boring.  I think I've had my fill of Caroline telling us a sweet memory with her dad.  We get it--he's a nice guy.  Whatever.  The only point in hearing that story was that Max had something to talk about when she was speaking on Caroline's behalf at the deposition.

I did like that Max was so into Law and Order.  The way the lawyer kept looking at her, every time she threw out some of the legal stuff she had learned through the show, was funny.  Plus, I just like seeing a passionate Max.  We all have our shows that we get a little more than excited about, and it's nice that Max can relate to most people about that.  I especially liked how she was so taken with the "tiny typewriter."  It's great when she has the enthusiasm of a kid at a toy store.

Not much of a story this time.  I would have said that it was useful in exposing more about the mystery of Caroline's father, but I don't think we really learned much more than that Caroline isn't the only person who might believe in his goodness.  And of course, we learned that Max is a Law and Order fan.  There wasn't much racy material to work with this time, thus reducing the amount of comedy.  It's a little disappointing, but I guess this show can't always be about how many sex jokes they can throw in within half an hour.

Spring Break Is Anywhere There Are Portable Saunas And Bacon

2 Broke Girls, S01E19

This week Caroline and Max went on "spring vacation" after Caroline was asked to dog sit for two of her friends.  They not only manage to have a great time, but they also find a blogger who writes about their cupcake business, thanks to Caroline.  Sophie is also seen many times hooking up with Oleg again.  I'm not sure if that's not a big grosser than Caroline having to purge a dog's anal gland.

I loved how Max was so excited about the portable saunas.  It reminded me a little of how much she adored Caroline's bathtub in her old house.  I almost thought she might just spend the entire time sitting in there until she was nothing but a raisin.  I have never seen one of those things myself, and I thought they looked a little ridiculous.  But I guess when you don't have the option of going to a real sauna or a spa, that sort of thing must be priceless (if you enjoy that sort of thing).

Max was also a cute combination with Barbara Streisand at the party while she pretended to be the type of girl who carried her dog everywhere.  Since Max seems to have a soft spot for animals, I could see her future self having a designer bag or something of the like where she kept her dog on her person at all times.  And she would definitely be able to pull off the right attitude to prevent anyone, like Zeke from the party, from making her follow the rules about animals not being allowed.  I guess Zeke must have thought she was pretty cute (or the dog too) to make Max leave the party.  I was hoping maybe the two would get close, but I can't see him being more than a "spring fling."

I'm glad that Caroline didn't ruin their chances to have a well-known food blogger write about one of their cupcakes.  I was worried that with their pretty standard cupcakes that they wouldn't be able to impress the lady, but I was pleased to see that Max thought outside of the box and incorporated elements of food and drink she had been exposed to during their mini-vacation.  A beer-batter bacon cupcake?  I don't like bacon that much, but I might try that.  Hopefully, the free publicity will pay off and their website will get more business.  If they get too much, though, I don't know how they will be able to manage baking in between working at the diner (but I guess they ultimately want that much business so they could quit their job).

I don't know what Sophie is thinking constantly having sex with Oleg.  At least he isn't walking around their apartment building or diner like he is some kind of god.  Sophie sure looks a little embarrassed, but she just goes right back to him.  I usually wouldn't judge, but she's basically dating him now and should just make it official.  What's the point of "sneaking" around if everyone already knows your business?  Just go ahead and take that final leap, Sophie.  Woman up.

Things have been going pretty well for their cupcake business, but I foresee some kind of road bump soon.  It can't go too well or it wouldn't make good TV (although, I feel for the two girls and I would personally be happy to see them get their dreams with little trouble).  At some point along the road of their success, I would like to see Max get seriously involved with someone.  It would be great if it was someone who could sweep her off her feet and give her the kind of relationship that she's never had before.  Caroline can be an airhead sometimes, so I'd not like to see her get distracted by a man again (look how she did with that random Greek guy).  Let's find Max some love!  She deserves it.

Who Cares About Caroline's Birthday?

2 Broke Girls, S01E18

Mainly because this was a Caroline-centered episode, I didn't particularly like it.  It was her birthday, and she hooked up with a pretty fine web designer.  Just like the party that Max planned with pretty much only balloons as decorations, there were some things lacking this week.

What comes to mind is that there wasn't enough Sophie.  Her best moment was when she was eating a cupcake and ogling Caroline and the hottie making out.  We've also come to expect her to reject Oleg for a good minute or two, and this time she barely had a few seconds to send him an insult.  Dang.  And there was no interaction between she and Earl this time.  Double-dang!  The fact that she hooked up with Oleg was almost gross except that Oleg thankfully didn't go around bragging about it in the nastiest way possible.  Dodged a bullet there.  I wonder if that will be the end of their fooling around or will it progress beyond just "hand stuff."

It was also pretty predictable that the reason Caroline didn't want to celebrate her birthday was because she wouldn't be able to spend it with her dad.  When isn't it about her dad??  Like, there needs to be a limit to how much of a daddy's girl she is.  It's getting a little annoying.  We did get to see a glimpse of him, but I wasn't straining my eyes (or going back a few seconds) to see what he really looked like.  It's not really that important to the story.

If I have to be truthful, besides the extremely ghetto lady with the dreads, my favorite thing about Monday's story was the Capri Suns.  I love these and when Max said that she was going to have them at the party, I totally thought she was joking.  But they were all drinking them!  And Oleg's call for all the party members to "raise their capri to the sun" was excellent.  Seriously, back in the day I used to drink those things like water and inhale them as quickly as air.  This episode didn't have much to offer, but I respect a good shout-out to my favorite portable drink.

I wonder what kind of business they will get after that website is up and running.  I'm hoping that whatever mishap it will bring will be up to my standards.  A reference to Capri Suns can only get you so far.

Max's New Family

2 Broke Girls, S01E17

You know, after this episode I noticed that this show warms my heart for real sometimes.  It's very unexpected because the tempo of this show is more light and edgy, rather than anything deep that might  evoke your emotions.  There's something about good things happening to Max that make me smile and feel good to see them.

This time Caroline was being crazy about not getting sick.  At first, I thought she needed to just chill out, but with Han sneezing in people's faces, I'd get a little psycho too.  What the hell??  He needs one of those cold masks they wear in Japan in the winter.  Something.  Cuz that is just nasty!  He makes up for it a little bit by paying for Caroline to visit a pharmacy that also has a doctor working there.

Before they get there, Sophie comes in the diner and has another sexy chat with Earl.  I am loving this pattern of their banter.  Why don't they just get together?  It doesn't seem like they would when Sophie claims that she is meeting a guy there she was introduced online.  The clearly men-loving man that shows up is far from my expectations of who she would date.  Everyone else can tell, so I figure that Sophie must know herself that the man is gay.  She's not an idiot or either she might actually fall for Oleg.

Oleg takes another whack at winning over Sophie with his velour suit and numerous penis remarks.  Sometimes he wants to make me gag, but at least he's not too bad on the eyes.  He's not a hottie, but he's not a troll either.  In fact, if he didn't refer so much to sex, he might be all right.  Maybe.  Anyway, Sophie rejects him again, and Oleg gets annoyed that a gay man has a better chance with her than he does.  That's gotta sting.

Caroline talks about her "adopted" Jewish family she thought she had been close with.  This is because the pharmacy they were sent to ended up being in the Orthodox Jewish district.  I really wish Caroline would shut up!  She goes beyond offensive with her overly eager attempt to show that she knows the Jewish community with her random Hebrew phrases and stereotypical mannerisms.  The lady at the counter was much nicer to them than she needed to be.  She was particularly fond of Max, who she thought looked just like her.  Even though Caroline was being offensive, they land a cupcake gig for the lady's son's bar mitzvah.

When making the cupcakes that have to be kosher, Max decides to ignore this and make 40 cupcakes the non-kosher way.  However, Caroline convinces her to do it right.  Somehow I wish that she didn't listen to her because Caroline is so annoying when she wants someone to do something.  The best thing about this scene was Sophie coming with her new boyfriend and admitting she knew he was gay, and it just want she wanted.  Great.  I knew she wasn't a dummy!  But I was worried about her giving a man she met not too long ago the keys to her apartment while she wasn't there.  I thought that would prove to be a problem, but it didn't.  Good for her.  I wouldn't trust that guy for at least a few months.  You never know what con some guy on the internet is trying to pull on you.

To blend in at the event, Caroline gets them appropriate attire, which includes over-sized cardigans.  They looked like homeless old ladies.  You know that something has to go wrong, but I didn't expect it to be that the boys there would start talking to Max and Caroline like they were gangsta rappers.  What in the world??  It was completely hilarious.  Not only did they keep propositioning the two for sex, but they were so completely opposite of the quiet and obedient personalities they presented to the rest of the family.  I don't blame them for wanting to act out with the strict life they probably have, but that was too much.  Too much in a great way.

The best part was when the mother and grandmother dote upon Max when she breaks out in a fever.  Max has never experienced such tender, motherly care.  And the older ladies just love her.  I just loved it.  She deserved to have someone take care of her like that.  However, it didn't last long after Max had to confess that four of the cupcakes were not kosher.  So not only did her the little love fest end, they didn't get paid for the cupcakes.  The latter was less disappointing than Max losing favor with her new mother and "Bubbie."   But the mother did let her keep the cold compress.  Aww...  I felt bad for Max.  She screwed up but it wasn't the end of the world.  I wish she could have really bonded with them and gotten more of the motherly love she had been missing on.  Earl is already her substitute dad.

The girls made no money this episode, but Max made a sweet connection.  I like episodes that focus on her opening up her heart a little more, as long as they don't involve Caroline.  Caroline is a good person at heart, but she tries too hard.  I'd like to see more of Max growing in this way next week.

A Heart Attack Is A Good Valentine's Day Story

2 Broke Girls, S01E16

This Valentine's Day episode was less about romantic love and more about fatherly love.  Our favorite cashier, Earl, comes down with a heart attack as he is about to get off work.  He treats the condition with little anxiety, remarking that he started feeling the pain when Sophie came in her revealing dress.  Now that is not much of a shocker because her melons were quite on display when she came into the restaurant, sporting a purple parasol.  Wow.  I also like what Sophie says to Earl before he has his attack:

I wish we had black people in Poland when I was growing up.

Caroline and Max rush Earl to the hospital with Sophie's town car.  The ER is full of people, and the guy at the front desk is anything but sympathetic to Max's sense of urgency.  Her threats to this unhelpful man are hilarious.  They tell him that Earl is actually Morgan Freeman, and that Max is his daughter.  The guy finds it hard to believe and even less when she says that Earl is the "love of her life."  Max wonderfully explains that both of these things are true because they're from the South.  Being a Southern girl myself, I can appreciate that kind of joke.  My favorite threat that Max uses on the front desk guy is that she would "cut [him] so deep that [he'd] have a vagina."  Her thug side really came out when Earl was in trouble.  I loved it.  I don't have to necessarily understand how their relationship came about, but you really see Max's deep love of him.

Caroline is able to get Earl a private room after asking for the help of her ex, Dr. David, who works at the hospital and practically owns it.  I was surprised that after he complained about his Dartmouth shirt Caroline never returned that he pretty easily agreed to help Max and Caroline out.  I wasn't really sure why, but Caroline took it as a sign that the two might get back together.  It was here that I thought we would see that random hook-up for the sake of it being Valentine's Day.  No such luck.  He rejected her because he didn't want anything to do with her family now that Caroline's father was in prison.  Wow.  What an asshole.  I guess we were a little deceived by him helping Earl to think that he was a decent guy.  Well, Caroline is better off.

It was funny when Han comes to visit Earl at the hospital.  He was still wearing his Cupid wings from the restaurant and Earl mistook him for an angel.  One of his concerns about going to Heaven was that there would be no jazz music.  Ha.

I also found myself unable to hold back a giggle when Sophie and Oleg talk in the restaurant.  He wants her to come clean his apartment and she responds:

Oh, you cannot get me to come.

Oh, I can get you to come.

No, I can longer come anymore.

It goes on like that for longer than I thought it would and the sexual implications are funny since it's Sophie, who is almost dead serious, and Oleg, whose brain never leaves the gutter if he can help it.

Caroline's father surprises both girls with some flowers at the end of the episode.  Aww.  I like that Max turns the sentimental moment into something sexual to distract us from her real feelings.  But that's something that I like about her character.  As far as romance goes, Max did apologize to the front desk guy at the end and give him some Valentine's candy.  He then asked her out, and Max only hesitated a second to get his number.  Hey, I think they have something special.  If anyone can sit there and take Max's most thug-like threats and not wet himself, he's probably a good match for her.

This episode was a good blend of funny, but also a bit heartwarming.  They should have more stories like this one.  This might be one of my favorite Valentine's episodes I've seen within the past week.

We Need More Sophie!

Last night's episode of 2 Broke Girls (15th of their 1st season) was about whether Caroline was Max's rock and holding her back.  This is one of my secondary shows, but I could see it becoming a primary one.  It's not so witty that you think to yourself, "How did they come up with that one?" but it is entertaining enough that you do want to see these two struggling, working girls get ahead in life.  The cast is pretty great for a show I'm sure most people don't even bother to watch.  Now with the addition of Sophie (played by Jennifer Coolidge), I think the show might have even more potential.
What I liked about this episode is that Max was given a little more credit for her efforts.  Caroline may be the one with the business savvy, but Max is the one with the talent (mostly at baking cupcakes and having a smart retort in five seconds or less).   Sophie suggests that Caroline is a rock and Max is a balloon who would only fly if she could cut away the dead weight.   Well, it's no shocker that Caroline contests this and later proves that she's just as valuable to the Max-Caroline team as Max is.  We can't have the 2 break up after all--the show is about 2 broke girls.

As usual, there was an abundance of sassy comeback lines from all of the characters, but there are so many that I won't really list anything this time.  Most were only OK, so I don't think they are worth mentioning.  I do think that there is a good chemistry between Sophie and Max in the department of memorable quotes.  I really hope that Sophie becomes a permanent member because I believe that in Sophie's first appearance their back and forth was pretty excellent.  But for the sake of anyone who's never seen the show, I will quote one line from the end:

[Caroline] (seeing Max's unusual face) What? You're being subway creepy.

Let me also say that Earl is a cute, little old man.  You gotta love Garett Morris.  Han, has his moments too, but not in this episode.

The girls are up to over $800 already.  I don't know much about what they need to start a proper business (I'm assuming that they will eventually open a shop), but the cleaning business seems to be helping a lot.  If it means that they get to have some strange situations like this time with the big-sized model and the OD model, I'm all for them taking on this side-job.  It also means that they will definitely have more Sophie scenes in the future, which makes me happy.  Just hope that somehow this show can manage to make it to more than one season.  It's a lot better than some of the other half-assed shows that are on now.
