There'll Be No Baby Tomorrow

The Cleveland Show, S04E05

Donna wanted to have another baby with Cleveland once Rallo had grown up, but Cleveland's vasectomy made it impossible.  Donna and Cleveland battled each other to expose the other concerning the fake pregnancy that they both were aware of.   Rallo became the star of the play Annie, but his diva-like actions got it shut down before it was even performed.

Wow, I think it has been a while since there was a story where Cleveland and Donna were trying to best the other with a lie or a scheme.  Or maybe not, but I feel like it has because I hate this setup.  Mainly because you know that both of them already know the other is full of crap, but they keep playing out the charade anyway.  I mean, it was a little funny that they were both so stubborn that they would actually go to the hospital and get the doctor to birth a cushion, but it was mostly frustrating as hell.

The best line from that story came from Dr. Fist, who finally spoke up after going along with their fight for some reason:

If I may interject…you’re both terrible people who should not have any children.  In fact, I am not even comfortable sending that cushion home with you.

His comment was almost worth them acting like idiots for the majority of the episode.

The side story where Rallo got to be Annie was kinda cute.  I liked how he adapted Junior's shirt into something that looked like Annie's dress.  It was also cute when he was crying at his window after regretting the show getting cancelled due to his ureasonable and costly demands.  A little later when Roberta was offering a way to have Rallo be a star after all, there was a pretty funny moment:

[Roberta, bring Junior and Rallo close] We’ll do our own knockoff version!
[Rallo] Ack, ugh!  Girl don’t know how to whisper.
[Roberta] I am whispering!

There's something very funny to be about people who don't understand how to whisper.  I guess because it makes them look a little crazy and stupid at the same time.

This was an okay episode.  I really wish the side story about Rallo could have been longer.  I would have liked to see him be more of a diva than was shown.  Didn't care too much for the lie fest between Donna and Cleveland--it stopped being funny a few seconds after they started.  It's a little weird to say, but I feel like for the sake of this show's comedy, Cleveland and Donna shouldn't do much together.  It usually ends up being a pretty boring (or annoying) story.

Tessa And Dalia Versus The Dog-Napper

Suburgatory, S01E19

Dallas entrusted Tessa with the task of finding her dog, Yakult, who had been brushed out of house and home by Dalia.  Tessa joined forces with Dalia to find the little dog, who had been taken in by Mr. Wolfe.  Yakult had brought together Mr. Wolfe and his boyfriend Alan, who was reluctant to admit they were in a relationship.  Although Tessa did most of the work to figure out where Yakult was, she easily let Dalia take all the credit for bringing Yakult home safely.  George met a woman whom he had an incredible connection with, but he had no idea that she was carrying Noah's baby.  He eventually decided to overlook the oddity of dating his friend's surrogate mother and started to get to know her better.

We got to see Tessa working at Dallas' shop for the first time.  Her pink uniform wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.  I liked the little confrontation between her and Dalia in the store.  Dalia tried to fire her, but Dallas took Tessa's side that there was no reason she should be.  I was happy that Dalia didn't get away with dissing Tessa while she was doing honest work, but I also felt bad for Dalia because she seemed a bit neglected.  I thought she might take it out on Tessa, but it's becoming clear that Yakult is a bigger rival to Dalia than Tessa will ever be.  It's a little bit of an insult that she sees a dog more of a threat than Tessa is.  Haha.

My favorite part of the Dalia and Tessa story was when they were chasing Mr. Wolfe to his condo (Dalia referred to the place as a "welfare hotel"--wow).  It was like they were some kind of opposites-attract detective duo.  I loved it.  I didn't think that Dalia would be able to keep up so well, but she was right behind Tessa and even had the time to reapply her lip gloss as she did.  I hope there will be another time they team up like that because it was great.  Later, Tessa downplayed her role in finding Yakult so that Dalia could redeem herself in Dallas' eyes.   It was so sweet of her, but I had worried that it would turn into a moment of "no good deed goes unpunished."  But Dalia didn't do anything to make Tessa regret her actions.  That was nice and surprising.  I bet Dalia just forgot that Tessa existed again or was just so generally happy that she didn't have the time to be a biatch.  Maybe there is hope for these two to become frenemies in the future.

If someone had told me that Alicia Sliverstone would be on this show, I would have been way skeptical of whether she'd make a good addition.  But the chemistry between her and George is completely believable and sweet.  It was a bit disappointing and weird to find out that she was Noah's surrogate, but I was glad that George didn't immediately want to stop seeing her.  Eden just seems like a ray of sunshine who could brighten up George's slightly cynical, city attitude.  I was gunning for him to get with Dallas, but Eden is a wonderful alternative.  I wonder what other kind of obstacles they might have that could upstage her just being pregnant in general.  I'm sure that will create some comical situations while they date.

Suburgatory just doesn't disappoint.  Can't wait to see what happens with just about everyone next time!

A Schmidt Baby Makes Me Want To Gag

New Girl, S01E21

Cece had to wait in fear and repulsion to see if she was pregnant with Schmidt's child.  Jess babysat Sarah, Russel's daughter, who was in love with Nick.  Nick found out that his newest girlfriend was younger than he thought.  Winston had to take care of his boss who was intimidated by another talk host.

The thing I was worried about slightly less than Cece being pregnant was that Sarah would be a huge brat and not get along well with Jess.  The girl was definitely peculiar with the eagerness that she wanted to know about sexual activities, but she did seem to like Jess and trust her (until she revealed her big secret).  Usually a kid on a show that has mostly adults is annoying, but I think that Sarah was odd enough that she fit in with Jess and company.  Her best line of all was when she first met Nick and noticed his eyes:

Your eyes are so brown.  They look like poop.

Nick, of course, wasn't even able to shake off a young girl's assessment of himself and consulted his friends whether this was true.  They confirmed that he indeed had a poop-like hue eye color.  Another "great" quality about Nick.

Nick seemed like he may have gotten to the end of his college girl phase after learning that his last girlfriend was 18 and knew Sarah.  She had also had Jess as her substitute teacher once upon a time.  If this doesn't convince him to go back to dating girls his own age, I don't know what else it will take.  You would think dating that girl with the circle scarf would have taught him already.

The thing that I was mostly worried about in this episode was that Cece would have to give birth to a little Schmidt.  Even if I could imagine that the child would be nothing like the father, I just was grossed out by how Schmidt was handling the situation.  His comments about the sex he and Cece have were bad enough, but to have him hanging all over her while talking about how big her breasts were going to get made me reach for the puke bag again.  It's amazing how much I want to push him out of a window, even though he is a sweet and charming guy.  It's just that when he talks about sex he gives us way more information than we want to know.  Thankfully, Cece got her period.  I almost applauded that moment.

I didn't expect Schmidt to try to propose to her, though.  I guess now he is the one who thinks they should get serious and Cece is the one who thinks their relationship should remain strictly physical.  It's funny how a baby scare could flip it like that.  Or at least that's what it looks like.  I don't blame Cece, nor do I think that Schmidt was wrong for thinking that a pregnancy would be the best time for him to strike while the iron was hot.  So far they haven't shown much in common beyond the sex anyhow.  Maybe if they get to a level where they connect on a nonsexual level, I might think that marriage wouldn't look too random for them.

The story about Winston wasn't that great.  It was just nice that Winston seemed to start a friendship with his boss.  He deserves a break when it comes to employment.

My favorite line in the episode was when Jess was talking to Nick before Sarah came:

Please put on some pants.  Everything you say sounds really creepy when you're not wearing pants.

And when did say stuff like her hair looked nice and something about the coffee, he did sound just as creepy as Jess declared.  I dunno why it was okay, though, for him to have pants or really high socks.  What, is he like an old man or something?  Ugh.

Another good line was when Schmidt was pretending to call another girl for the date he had planned for him and Cece.  He had really called Nick and for some reason Nick didn't pick up on what Schmidt was doing:

[Schmidt] You wearing something sexy?
[Nick] Button down and jeans, like always.
[Schmidt] Oh, those jeans sound sexy.
[Nick] Is everything all right?  You want to hang out more, Schmidt?
[Schmidt] You taking care of that toushie for me?

[Nick] I'm not doing like squats or anything.  I'm trying to eat less donuts.
[Schmidt] You still keeping it tight?

I couldn't believe how long it took before Nick was creeped out by what Schmidt was saying.  He was just talking with him almost as if everything Schmidt was saying was nothing unusual.  So awkward, but so wonderful to watch to see how far it could go.

I sensed a little that Jess was remembering a little bit of her attraction toward Nick, but her actions and words make it seem that she's committed to building on her relationship with Russel.  As long as Nick isn't dating some little girl, I can be cool with them not getting any closer any time soon.  However, I'd like the Cece and Schmidt train to take a little break soon--I cant't take another scare like Schmidt becoming a disgusting father as well.  Perhaps he would tone down his sexuality a bit once a baby came along, but since that's not guaranteed, I'm not willing to take the risk.  Schmidt is bad enough as he is now, and as we were told in another episode, he only has down--there is no up with Schmidt.

How I Met Your Mother, S07E21

Marshall got upset about Lily's sex dream with Ranjit.  Barney started a campaign to make every day legendary with Ted at his side.  Ted was less interested in hanging out with Barney than he was enjoying his time living alone as an adult for the first time in his life.  Robin was frustrated that despite becoming an anchorwoman on a major news network, she was far from famous yet. However, after she landed a helicopter by herself after the pilot passed out from a stroke, she finally got the celebrity status that she longed for.

It's incredible how well Marshall and Lily know each other, to the point that Marshall could tell that Lily was lying about the content of her sex dream.  It's too bad that he could easily tell that she had "sleep cheated" with someone she knew, but it wasn't anyone in their inner circle.  I'm glad that it was Ranjit, not just because it wasn't someone I'd easily guess, but just because I like him on the show.  The issue of the sex dream wasn't as funny as Ranjit continuing to listen in on their fight by lowering the partition randomly after Marshall had asked him to raise it several times.  And I loved when Marshall and Ranjit were eating at the fancy restaurant.  I thought he was going to comfort Marshall about women acting a little nutty when they are pregnant, but Ranjit crushed his dreams about ever having the luxury to be crazy himself:

[Ranjit] She’s pregnant. She gets to be crazy. You have to be the sane one.
[Marshall] So what, I don’t get to be crazy again until the baby comes?
[Ranjit] No. Then it’s baby’s turn to be crazy.
[Marshall] When do I get to be crazy again?
[Ranjit] Never.

 That was my favorite part of the episode.  I didn't care too much about Robin being depressed about her fame and then getting it, nor Barney's point system and his attempt to have all these "incredible" nights with Ted.  The only thing I liked about the latter story was that Barney revealed that his incessant bragging about Quinn being a stripper was a front to cover up his fears about what she did on her job at nights.  The only thing that distracted him from all those terrible thoughts were hanging out with Ted.  I'm glad that it isn't that easy for him to date a stripper because I was wondering how he thought it was such a great job that he needed to tell everyone every time he spoke to them.  Ted was nice to accept his challenge to get a girl's number while wearing a dress.  It was really unflattering on him, though, especially because he didn't wear matching shoes even.  But he did wear perfume with it.  Not gonna ponder why that is--Ted's just weird in general.

I think this was a pretty boring episode except for the fact that Ranjit came back.  I wish that he had more opportunities to be in the show, but as he is a limo driver and none of them can afford such services on a regular basis, I guess he can only come back for the occasional episode or two.  I'm ready to see Ted find out that living on his own isn't all about the freedom of walking around naked or eating buckets of ribs in peace.  The season finale is drawing near, so I'd like to something eventful to happen with his relationship (that doesn't involve Robin) quickly.
